LCS: Malaysia’s system shall be fixed - Arus Anak Muda chairman
SHAH ALAM – With scandals like 1Malaysia Development Bhd and the newly highlighted Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) project, it shows that Malaysia’s system needs to be fixed to prevent any potential abuse from people from any sector.
Arus Anak Muda chairman Dr Zokhri Idris said the country's current system was ineffective and could be easily abused by individuals and organisations for their own benefits.
“We look into the bigger picture, naming it LCS or 1 Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB), we never know what will happen in the future.
“So, if we connect the dots, we must admit to ourselves that our country’s system is failing and cannot prevent all the wrongdoings from taking place,” he said
Zokhri further said that as the country’s system failed, the nation could not be spending time on trials and investigations.
“We need to fix our system so there is no room for any abuse or any wrongdoings and malfunction from anyone in the sector,” he stressed.
Meanwhile, Umno Youth Chief Exco Ikmal Hazlan Ikmal Hisham commented on the LCS project and stressed that the truth about LCS corruption issue should be sought.
“For the LCS scandal, almost RM9 billion was involved and RM6 billion has been given and we’ve seen some of the products but yet there were delays in the progress of the ships.
“Most of the delays were during the period of Lew Chin Tong as the deputy defence minister, but I think it’s best not to put the blame on others.
“Hence as for the LCS project, we need to find out where the money is and get the money back as soon as possible,” he said.
Ikmal added that there was no point to put the blame on others or point fingers as what was important now was to find the money back and move forward.
“It was important to complete the project and move ahead with our national security,” he said.
Zokhri and Ikmal were panellists on Sinar Daily’s Wacana English Edition ‘Resetting the Political Landscape for GE15’ last night along with Kampung Tunku Assemblyman, Lim Yi Wei.
