SHAH ALAM - Umno will reject any calls by the opposition to delay elections, says Umno President Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

In a Facebook post, Zahid said the opposition was hoping to delay GE15 to buy time and launch more attacks against Umno.

“We will not follow the opposition stand to delay GE15 so that they can strategise, diversify their propaganda, and increase political attacks against Umno.

“We need to overcome this. The important thing is to close ranks, increase loyalty to the party's decisions and not to be manipulated by our political enemies,” he said.

He said Umno’s strength lies in Umno’s loyal grassroots.

Moreover, unlike Pakatan Harapan's manifesto, Umno is seen as a party with realistic policies.

Zahid added many members have joined and left the 76-year-old party. “Despite that, Umno is still standing strong even though we were hit by political turbulence.

“When they decided to leave and go against the party, their political life was cut short.

“Let us all increase our determination to move forward with Umno and not waver even when the political storm hits,” he added.
