PASIR MAS - The Women, Family and Community Development Ministry (KPWKM) have allocated RM9.5 million as preparation for the monsoon season this year.

Its deputy minister Datuk Siti Zailah Mohd Yusoff said the allocation was distributed to the Social Welfare Department (JKM) for flood management purposes such as the provision of food, blankets and other necessities for flood victims.

She told reporters this after launching the Women's Career and Entrepreneurship Programme in conjunction with the Pasir Mas 'Jjupo Mato' Keluarga Malaysia Festival at Dataran Bandar Baru Pasir Mas today.

Elaborating, Siti Zailah said a total of 7,000 JKM personnel nationwide were also ready to carry out disaster management duties in the affected states.

"KPWKM also constantly cooperates with other government agencies to tackle floods in the states. We also get the cooperation of volunteers from non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and companies who are ever ready to assist in various ways during floods,” she said. - BERNAMA
