Najib still in Kajang Prison
MOHAMMAD KHAIRIL ASHRAF MOHD KHALIDKUALA LUMPUR - Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak will still be placed in Kajang Prison to serve his sentence.
Najib's Special Officer Ahmad Lutfi Azhar however said that he did not know whether Najib would be relocated to Sungai Buloh Prison.
"So far he will be in Kajang," he told reporters when met at the High Court lobby here today.
Lutfi added the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) trial today also saw the first time Najib met his family members since his sentence began on Tuesday.
"Najib's meeting with his family is only in court," he said.
Najib walked out of the Court Complex here at 4.20pm and get on a black sport utility vehicle (SUV).
He managed to wave to a small group of supporters who gathered at the court compound to show their support.
The supporters could be heard shouting 'Bossku' and 'Lawan Tetap Lawan'.
It was reported that Najib currently faced four charges of allegedly using his position to obtain bribes totalling RM2.3 billion from the 1MDB fund and 21 counts of money laundering involving the same amount.
On Tuesday, Najib was sent to Kajang Prison to serve his prison sentence after the Federal Court upheld his conviction, 12-year prison sentence as well as a fine of RM210 million for misappropriation of RM42 million fund of SRC International Sdn Bhd.
