SHAH ALAM - The #TangkapNajib protest in 2015 to call for action over the 1Malaysia Development Bhd has finally paid off and those involved in the protest can breathe a sigh of relief over Datuk Seri Najib Razak being sentenced to 12 years in jail, today.

Muda co-founder Amir Abdul Hadi said that the news of Najib being sent to Sungai Buloh prison was proof that the protest conducted seven years ago did not end in vain.

He shared the mistreatment faced by the 29 protestors detained at the rally and expressed that the feelings were hard to describe.

“(In) 2015, we were arrested and roughed up for #TangkapNajib protest related to the 1MDB scandal.

“(We spent) days in lockup. Eating cat food, sitting huddled with other prisoners, not knowing day and night.

“Today, Najib will be put in jail and only God knows how we feel,” he tweeted.

Through his Instagram post, he added that there were no fights that ended up with failure although many years have passed since the rally.

In August 2015, the #TangkapNajib protest in downtown Kuala Lumpur saw 29 people arrested.
