SHAH ALAM - Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin reminds that the Federal Court's decision against former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak today is not the end of a fight.

He said this was because the prosecution in the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) case which involved the embezzlement of funds amounting to RM2.6 billion, corruption case involving the Barisan Nasional (BN) Chairman and other high-profile cases were still pending.

“I hope the independence of our judiciary in our country continues to be protected without any attempt to interfere or political pressure so that justice can be upheld.

"The independence and integrity of the judiciary as proven today is the axis of a democratic country.

"Without an independent judiciary, the democratic system in our country will fail to function and Malaysia will become an authoritarian country, corrupt and morally bankrupt," he said through his Facebook post on Tuesday.

The Federal Court on Tuesday upheld the conviction and sentence of 12 years in prison and a fine of RM210 million against Najib for the misappropriation of RM42 million in funds belonging to SRC International Sdn Bhd.

Muhyiddin said his effort with the public to oppose the corruption culture has finally been answered in the Federal Court.

He also said the independent judicial system proved that justice could be upheld and restore the country's dignity that has been scratched.
