Najib’s fate will be determined this evening
PUTRAJAYA - The results of the former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's final appeal whether it will be maintained or otherwise will be known this evening.
When his appeal proceeding was delayed earlier, Najib, 69, left the court complex to meet with his supporters who had gathered at the compound of Palace of Justice since morning.
Through his speech, the Pekan MP apologised if the decision would not be on his side.
"Right now, we wait for whatever decision, if it is bad I am sorry," he said in front of hundreds of supporters.
Najib said all efforts had been made and the existing fight must continue.
"Stand your ground, pray and strive to stay upright until victory is upon us.
"I would like to thank and apologise for everything, we will have to wait for this evening," Najib said.
Meanwhile, security was tightened in the areas inside and outside of the court complex to face any possible issues.
Najib appealed at the highest level to set aside the conviction and 12 years prison sentence and a fine of RM210 million for the alleged embezzlement of RM42 million of funds owned by SRC International Sdn Bhd.
