"My mom is not the 'Zainab' of the LCS controversy," says daughter
SHAH ALAM – The daughter of the Chief Financial Officer of an oil and gas company, Dialog Group, has denied that her mother, Zainab Mohd Salleh, is the woman named in the exposes of the embezzlement involving the littoral combat ship controversy (LCS).
Clarifying the confusion on Twitter, Zainab’s daughter, Syaza Nazura pointed out that the Zainab Mohd Salleh named in the Paradise Papers report, referred the latter as the wife of Mersing MP Datuk Dr Abdul Latiff Ahmad, who is not her mother.
It was, according to Syaza, purely a coincidence that her mother shared a similar name with the woman named in the report, stressing that the two Zainab were two different individuals.
“The Zainab from Dialog Group Berhad is married to a gynecology-oncology consultant from Ara Damansara Medical Center, Dr Noor Azmi Mat Adenan,” read Syaza’s clarification on Twitter.
Her rebuttal came to be after Parti Aspirasi Sains Malaysia presiden Kenneth Chai claimed that the Zainab involved in the LCS controversy was Syaza’s mother.
“My mother is not the only person with such name. You are a scientist, a researcher, please do proper research before trying to be the first to ‘expose the truth.’
“Delete your tweet, issue a public apology and ask your followers to also apologise to my mother for slandering her,” Syaza demanded.
Earlier today, Latiff had also denied of having any marital ties with one Zainab Mohd Salleh.
"As a Cabinet minister, I am ready to give full cooperation if the authorities want to conduct further investigations," said Latiff who is also a Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Special Functions).
