TH to contact immigration on return of woman who performed umrah in men's ihram - Idris
PUTRAJAYA - Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Idris Ahmad says he has instructed Tabung Haji to contact the Immigration Department to obtain information regarding the return of a woman who allegedly dressed in ‘ihram’ clothing for men while performing Umrah in Makkah recently.
"She went (to Makkah) on her own using a tourist visa," he told reporters when asked about the issue, after the flagging-off ceremony of a motorcycle convoy in conjunction with the ‘Keluarga Malaysia Munajat’ programme organised by the Islamic Dakwah Foundation Malaysia (YADIM) here today.
The programme held at the Putra Mosque was to celebrate one year of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s leadership.
Commenting further, Idris said after determining where the woman lived, his ministry would inform the respective state religious authorities to take further action.
On Aug 12, Idris was reported to have said that strict action awaited the woman once she returned home.
Earlier, a social media user had shared a 17-second video of a 'man' filming himself circumambulating the Kaaba in Makkah, which eventually went viral after the individual was claimed to be a woman. - BERNAMA
