Police investigating threats against CJ
KUALA LUMPUR - Any elements of threats against Chief Justice Tun Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat will be immediately investigated.
Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said although no report has been lodged yet, it was still considered as a serious issue.
He said the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has been instructed to scrutinise all the threats against Tengku Maimun which were made on social media platforms including Facebook and Twitter since midnight on Friday.
"The police will take immediate action against matters involving the security and public order.
"I have instructed the CID to initiate an investigation by scrutinising all threats against the Chief Justice and the investigation also involves the Classified Criminal Investigation Unit," he said briefly on Friday.
Acryl said the police will not tolerate anything that involved public order.
Meanwhile, it is understood that the police were also working together with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission to track down the individuals who made the threats against the Chief Justice.
On Friday, a message containing threats against Tengku Maimun went viral on Facebook.
