Malaysia keen to receive more Pakistan participants in Technical Cooperation Programme

MTCP is an initiative under which Malaysia shares its development experiences and expertise with other developing countries.
Greater involvement of Pakistani officials in the programme would not only boost bilateral relations but it would also assist the participants in their career development, Malaysia's acting High Commissioner to Pakistan Deddy Faisal Ahmad Salleh said in a press release issued in Islamabad on Thursday.
Ninety-two MTCP alumni from Pakistan attended a reception organised by the envoy and his wife Noor Emilia Alias in Islamabad on Thursday.
Among those present were former Pakistani diplomats who were previously posted in Kuala Lumpur, including Lieutenant General (Retd) Tahir Mahmood Qazi.
Deddy Faisal in his remarks said the MTCP reflects Malaysia's commitment to South-South cooperation and contributes to building closer relations with other countries.
He noted that Malaysia-Pakistan economic relations have grown significantly.
Bilateral trade in 2021 grew 36.3 per cent to US$1.9 billion, he said.
Malaysian exports of palm oil and related products made up 51.9 per cent of the trade volume, the envoy pointed out. - BERNAMA
