Man arrested for beating, stepping on daughter’s head
MOHD HARIS FADLI MOHD FADZILAMPANG – A man was arrested for allegedly stepping on his 16-year-old daughter’s head after she refused to follow his order to borrow money from their relatives.
Ampang Jaya District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Farouk Eshak said before the incident, the man and his wife had a dispute in their residence at Pangsapuri Sagaria, Taman Saga here on Wednesday.
“The man told his wife to borrow some money from their family members but she refused, which led the man to be angry and pulled his wife’s hair.
“Afterwards, the man told the victim to accompany her mother but the victim refused to accompany her mother to their relative’s house for money causing the suspect to be furious,” he said in a statement on Thursday.
Farouk said due to his anger, the man uttered offensive words to the victim and continued to hit, slap and stepped on his daughter’s head during the 7.55pm incident.
“At about 4am on Thursday, a team of police officers from the Ampang Jaya’s Criminal Investigations Division arrested the man at a roadside of Jalan Saga 6A, Taman Saga,” he said.
Farouk said investigation revealed the man in his 50s had three previous records related to criminal offences and narcotics.
He said the victim was brought to Ampang Hospital for treatment and the motive of the incident derived from a misunderstanding on financial issues.
“The man was brought to the Ampang District Court this morning for a remand application under section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
“The case will be investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code and Section 18 of the Domestic Violence Act 1994 for intentionally causing harm,” he said.
