KUANTAN - The implementation of the Rumah Rakyat Pahang (RRP) programme to help the needy own a home will be increased to eight units each in the 42 state constituencies next year, said Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail.

He said the increase in the number of units from the current six in each state constituency could be implemented if the targetted revenue of RM1 billion is successfully obtained this year, adding that he is optimistic that the target can be achieved based on the state government's current achievements.

For this year, Wan Rosdy said the state government has allocated RM19.95 million to build 266 RRP units, which is one unit in each of the 14 parliamentary constituencies while each state constituency gets six such houses.

"We started the RRP (programme) in 2019 with two units in each state constituency before increasing it to four units and this year to six units, to help the people own their own homes, which also shows the good financial performance of the state government.

"Initially, the price of a house was RM65,000 but as the price of goods increased, we also increased the house price to RM75,000 with each unit having three rooms and two bathrooms,” he told reporters after the launch of RRP 2022 here today.
