National compound archery team stun Indonesia for gold in Islamic Unity Games

KUALA LUMPUR - The national men’s compound archery team produced a stunning one-point win over Indonesia to bag the gold medal at the Islamic Unity Games 2021 in Konya, Turkiye today.

World number 44 Malaysia, comprising Mohd Juwaidi Mazuki, Eugene Loh and Alang Ariff Aqil Muhammad Ghazalli, downed Indonesia’s trio of Deki Adika Hastian, Hendika Pratama Putra and Prima Wisnu Wardhana, 229-228 in the final.

Based on the latest World Archery ranking, the Indonesian men’s compound archery team are ranked 34th in the world.

Meanwhile, Iran took home the bronze medal after downing hosts Turkiye 233-230.

The fifth edition of the Games, which began on Aug 9, ends tomorrow (Aug 18). - BERNAMA
