Man arrested for punching, slashing friend’s face
AMPANG - A man was arrested after he was believed to have slashed and punched his friend after a misunderstanding involving an accident compensation near Merdeka Villa, here.
Ampang Jaya District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Farouk Eshak said in the 6pm incident, the victim had contacted the man to discuss compensation over an accident in April.
The victim had allegedly borrowed the man’s car and an accident occurred.
“During the discussion, the enraged suspect had punched and slashed the victim’s face using a pocket knife,” he said in a statement on Tuesday.
He said the 24-year-old man was arrested by a team from the Ampang Jaya District Police Headquarters (IPD) Crime Investigation Department at about 2am in Semenyih.
“Inital investigations revealed the man had thrown the pocked knife used in the incident where the altercation occurred.
“The man had 11 past records of criminal and drug offences, while early urine screening tests found the man to be positive for drugs,” he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code.
