Hockey: Sultan Azlan Shah to begin on Nov 1 - MHC
IPOH - The 2022 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup hockey tournament has been brought forward to be held from Nov 1 to 10, according to Malaysian Hockey Confederation (MHC) president Datuk Seri Subahan Kamal.
He said the tournament which was originally scheduled for Nov 15 to 25, was brought forward to allow the national team to prepare for other tournaments.
Other countries that had confirmed their participation in the tournament, he said, were 2019 champions South Korea, Canada, Japan, South Africa and Pakistan.
"The national squad needs such matches (with good opponents) to prepare for next year's Asian Cup," he said in a press conference here today.
Subahan said he was confident that the tournament would receive good support from spectators following a long hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The last time the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup took place was in 2019, with the national team taking third place. - BERNAMA
