Malaysia Day: Melaka grateful to be chosen as host
MELAKA - The Melaka state government has expressed its gratitude after it was chosen as the host for the Malaysia Day celebration which will be observed on Sept 16.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali said it was the first time the Malaysia Day celebration will be held out outside Sabah and Sarawak.
"We feel so lucky and proud as the state has been chosen as the venue of this year's Malaysia Day celebration which will be held on Sept 16,” he said in his speech for the launch of the National month celebrations and the state-level Fly the Jalur Gemilang 2022 campaign at Dataran Sejarah, Ayer Keroh here today.

Also present were State Tourism, Heritage and Culture Committee chairman Datuk Muhammad Jailani and State Secretary Datuk Zaidi Johari.
Sulaiman said the bond of unity is the key to the harmony and well-being Malaysians have enjoyed all this time.
"As a result of the strength of the unity among the people of various races, our lives are now back to normal after facing the COVID-19 pandemic.
"Continue to extend your cooperation so that we can live our lives completely normal, just as we did before the pandemic," he said
He also hoped that the state of Melaka is brightened up with the flying of the Jalur Gemilang (national flag), especially at residences, business premises, government and private buildings and vehicles throughout the National Month. - BERNAMA
