"I welcome various programmes by the state and federal governments to help people get out of poverty.
"Among them are the Keluarga Malaysia Hardcore Poverty Eradication programme; Kasih Ibu Perlis; JomKerja@NCER; MAIPs’ Asnaf Economic Improvement; Perlis Free Trade Policy, and other programmes in entrepreneurship, agriculture, animal husbandry, industrial training and education, as well as housing for the B40 group.

Also present were Raja Perempuan of Perlis, Tuanku Tengku Fauziah Tengku Abdul Rashid and Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail.
Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin also urged the people to take advantage of all the assistance provided and try to improve the standard of living and family income.
"Use the platform provided as a stepping stone to advance yourself. Don't just expect help from the government alone," he said.
He said the government also needs to help people who cannot afford to have their own comfortable homes according to the government's ability.
He also expressed confidence in the direction of the state government in the housing sector as contained in the state housing policy, the Dasar Perumahan Hartanah Negeri Perlis (DPHPs) which came into force on June 1, 2022.
"The goals and objectives of DPHPs are clear, which is to provide adequate, comfortable, quality and affordable housing. The People's Housing Project (PPR) will also continue for the B40 group," he said.
Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin said the role of the Perlis Islamic Religious and Customs Council (MAIPs) needs to be given due attention and consideration and hoped that the MAIPs Holistic Distribution Action Plan 2.0 with 23 initiatives can be implemented well and become a reality.
He also reminded the people to always preserve the unity and harmony in the community.
"Racial sentiments and the misuse of social media to spread incitement, slander and extremist beliefs need to be curbed and dealt with immediately to avoid division and conflict in the multi-racial community.
"May unity and stability in this state continue, and the people live in peace and harmony," he said. - BERNAMA
