KUALA LUMPUR - A three-year old boy who was in a critical condition after being tossed by his father from a 20-metre high flyover at the Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2) is now in a stable condition.

Sentul district police chief Assistant Commissioner Beh Eng Lai said the boy who is a Myanmar national has been discharged from the intensive care unit (ICU) on Monday.

"The boy was discharged from the ICU yesterday and is now admitted to the children's ward for further observation.

"We are now waiting to take a statement from the child and refer the case to the deputy public prosecutor for further action,” he said in a statement on Tuesday.

On Aug 3, it was reported that the mother of the victim said mental problem was believed to have been the cause of the 38-year old father’s action throwing his three children from the flyover before he jumped off at the same place.

Based on the statement of an eyewitness, the man was seen walking while carrying a child and his right and left hands holding the hands of the other two children.

The man then suddenly threw the three children from the flyover before he jumped off afterwards.

The man and two of his children, an eight year-old girl, and a boy who was around six to seven-years-old were pronounced dead at the scene, while the other child, 3, was seriously injured.

They all possessed the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) card.
