"Blatant disregard of international law and the many principles of humanity" - Malaysia on Israel's deadly air raids on Gaza

SHAH ALAM - Malaysia calls on the international community to urgently exert the utmost pressures on the Israeli regime to immediately cease their violations and aggressions against the Palestinians.

Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah said prejudice should not be present to address the issue and it is crucial that the international community condemn the assaults by Israeli regime which takes away the Palestinian’s rights and livelihood.

“The international community must censure Israel over its selfish provocative assaults and apartheid policy against the fundamental rights, lives, livelihood and dignity of the Palestinians of all faiths in their own land.

“There should not be any double standards in addressing conflicts.

“Malaysia reaffirms its unwavering support for and solidarity with the Palestinian people and their cause for achieving freedom from the Israeli occupation,” he said in a statement today.

He added that Malaysia strongly condemns the latest Israeli attacks on Gaza which resulted in the loss of lives of Palestinian civilians, including children.

The act was described as ‘a blatant disregard of international law and the many principles of humanity’.

According to Palestinian observers, Israel’s attack on Gaza was weeks in the making, a deliberate act to gain legitimacy with its public as Israel braces for new elections in November.

On Friday, Israel launched missiles throughout the besieged Palestinian enclave, killing 10 people including a five-year-old girl, a 23-year-old woman, as well as Taysir al-Jabari, a commander of Islamic Jihad’s military wing.

It was reported that the Islamic Jihad group had fired more than 100 rockets into Israel in retaliation for the air raids.

The violence has raised fears of another war on Gaza by Israel, just 15 months after a month-long conflict that killed more than 260 people.
