Gerakan Tanah Air to contest 120 parliamentary seats, defeat Umno – Dr M
PUTRAJAYA- Gerakan Tanah Air (GTA) will place its candidates in 120 Parliamentary seats in the upcoming 15th General Election to fight against Umno.
The coalition’s chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said all the seats would be where the Malay majorities were in the Peninsula.
“Our efforts focus on opposing the deviant Malay party, which is Umno,” he said.
Dr Mahathir said the coalition was confident that it would be able to defeat Umno as the party only won 35 per cent in the previous general election.
“The remaining 65 per cent were those who did not go out to vote,” he said.
He said all parties including non-governmental organisations, academicians, and individuals were welcomed to join GTA.
“This is not about being racist but the effort to defeat a Malay party which has deviated, involved in corruption and others,” he said.
When asked if GTA had decided on the coalition’s Prime Minister’s candidate if they won GE15, Dr Mahathir said it had not been determined.
“The candidate for Prime Minister’s position will be decided after we win,” he said.
