Lorry crashes into family home in Tamparuli
TUARAN - A family of nine including a senior citizen escaped unhurt when a three-tonne lorry crashed into their home in Kampung Kapa, Tamparuli here on Wednesday.
The crash left the house 90 per cent destroyed.
Tuaran District Fire and Rescue Station chief Abdul Qawie Abdul Gapar said they received a distress call at about 7.48am and 14 personnel were immediately despatched to the scene located 22 kilometres from the station.
He said the lorry driver and his attendant were injured in the incident.
"According to the details of the accident, the driver had lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the house leaving the house 90 per cent damaged.
"There were nine people in the house aged between 19 and 82 whom were all safe and unhurt in the incident.
"The lorry plunged into a ravine causing the two people inside it to suffer injuries. The driver had fallen into the ravine while the attendant had jumped out of the vehicle to save his life during the incident," he said when contacted on Wednesday.
He said the victims who were injured received preliminary treatment from the Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) before being rushed to the hospital for further treatment.
The operations ended at 9.50am, he added.
