GE15: Johor Umno Youth has list of candidates ready

JOHOR BAHRU – Johor Umno Youth has come out with a list of candidates for the upcoming 15th General Election (GE15).

Its chief Mohd Hairi Mad Shah said the list however was not finalised and would be given to the leaders for evaluation.

The Larkin Assemblyman said the matter would be discussed first with the Johor Umno Chairman Datuk Seri Hasni Mohammad.

"The dates for the submission of the list of candidates' names have been set, but it is a secret of the party when it will be done.

"Who the candidates are and which seats they will contest are still under evaluation, we're going to put the best names, the central leadership has also asked me to nominate candidates and names.

"Yes (the delivery date and candidates) are already there," he said in a press conference after completing the 2022 FIJO Pre-launch Ceremony at a hotel here earlier.

On Friday, Hasni said that Johor BN would place roughly 70 per cent of new candidates in GE15 in the state.

When asked to comment on the list of candidates, Hairi joked said that the media seemed to know that GE15 was approaching.

"It's as if it (GE15) will not be any longer, if you're asking like this seems like you already know," he joked.

Meanwhile, he said his party was ready and welcomed Hasni's statement which hinted that it would allow the youth to be listed as candidates in GE15.

"Yes, of course, we are ready in the Johor State Elections (SE), we have proven that the youths are able to deliver until their success in the state Exco post.

"This election is definitely a tough challenge, so we will name the best candidates from Johor Umno Youth or Johor BN youth itself," he said.
