SHAH ALAM - After the bill to ban MPs from party-hopping was passed on Thursday, the Pakatan Harapan (PH) presidential council has demanded for three more promises in the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the government and PH to be implemented immediately.

The presidential council in a statement said with the approval of the constitutional amendment, 15 out of 18 articles agreed upon in the MoU have been implemented which was 83.3 per cent.

"The Presidential Council took note of the Prime Minister's statement two days ago that a new MoU would not be signed.

This means that the MoU signed on Sept 13, 2021 will remain in force as long as the 14th Parliament has not been dissolved as stated in Article 2.1 of the MoU.

“At this time, three articles that needed to be implemented were to limit the tenure of the Prime Minister to not more than 10 years.

“Besides that were to present and approve the Parliamentary Services Bill and amendment to the Parliamentary Standing Order to ensure that Dewan Rakyat and Dewan Negara proceedings would run smoothly.

"At the same time, Article 4 on the independence of the judiciary needs to be implemented at all times," the statement said on Friday.
