KUALA LUMPUR - Law minister Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi has contributed the success of passing the anti-hopping bill to MPs.

He said it was one of the most awaited moments for Malaysians.

"Alhamdulilah today, with such outstanding support from Dewan Rakyat, 209 MPs who attended were 100 percent supportive and unanimously supported this bill.

"We have been trying to implement this bill since September last year and it started with us (Legal Affairs Division, Prime Minister's Department), and the Attorney General's Office.

"I thank all members of Parliament," added the Santubong MP.

He said the bill is considered a repeat of history after the success of the previous Malaysia Agreement 1963 bill which was also under his ministry.

Wan Junaidi said he knew the anti-party hopping bill presented by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob on Wednesday at the Dewan Rakyat would not be rejected.

"I was confident that the bill will get the support it needed as we had discussions and engagements with them (MPs). I am very satisfied," he said.
