Sabah Police denies existence of Sulu heirs recruitment group in the state

KOTA KINABALU - Sabah Police deny the existence of a group recruiting the people in the state in connection with the Sulu Sultanate.

Of late, an allegation that claimed the heirs of the Sulu Sultanate had actively recruited people in Lahad Datu went viral on social media.

Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Idris Abdullah said police viewed the allegations seriously.

"Based on our investigation and intel collected, we can confirm that there is no existence of a group recruiting Sulu descendants in Sabah.

"However, police are investigating the claims on a group that issued Sulu Sultaniyah Darul Islam (SSDI) personal document for a fee.

"This group is acting alone and taking advantage of the issue for profit," he said in a statement on Thursday.

In this regard, the Sabah police urged the public not to spread any unverified news or misinformation that could cause public concerns.

Previously, the Malaysian Humanitarian Organisation (MHO) International Community in its statement on Wednesday claimed the heirs of the Sulu Sultanate were actively recruiting the people of the state. specifically in Lahad Datu.
