KOTA KINABALU - Two children died while two others were injured in a landslide incident at a wooden home near Taman Elok Bukit Nenas flat on Wednesday.

In the 8pm incident, Nuraiz Julaziz, 11 and his cousin Isa Sabri, 2, were pronounced dead from the collapse while two other individuals identified as Sabri Botong, 28 and his wife Siti Nur, 28, sustained injuries on their arms and legs.

Sabah Fire and Rescue Department Deputy Director Farhan Sufyan Borhan said they received a distress call on the incident at 8.26pm and 10 personnel from Kota Kinabalu Fire and Rescue Station along with 12 personnel from Lintas BBP were rushed to the scene located about seven kilometres away.

"The incident involved a landslide that hit a house near a hill which housed a family of nine.

"Five occupants managed to save themselves but four others were buried in the sand while another sustained injuries on his leg.

"The two-year-old child was sent to the hospital by the public before firemen arrived on the location while the other two victims were extricated at about 9pm," he said when contacted by Sinar Harian on Thursday.

Farhan said the child of the married couple, and their nephew were pronounced dead at the hospital
