“I did not receive money from UKSB” - Dr M

LANGKAWI - Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has denied that he had received funds from Ultra Kirana Sdn Bhd (UKSB) as alleged by the company's former administrative manager in the Shah Alam High Court on Monday.

Dr Mahathir said instead of the “empty talk”, those who claimed that he had received the funds should come forward and prove it.

"I did not receive the funds. If he could show proof that I did, I would accept it, it is easy to just talk.

“If anyone had given me money, show who gave it to me. I have never received such money,” he said in a press conference after meeting tour boat operators at the Tanjung Rhu jetty, here, on Monday.

The Langkawi MP confirmed that he was ready to be investigated by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) over the matter.

“I am ready, just show the proof that I have received the money.

“Many accusations were made against me as if I am rich and have billions of ringgit kept in Switzerland and Taiwan," he added.

Dr Mahathir said the situation was not similar to the case of Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

"We show evidence that Najib has the money, there are cheques that he signed and there is a bank account.

"Go check my bank account, there’s no problem," he said.

He said there was no middleman involved for the purpose of receiving the funds as alleged by the witness.

On Monday, during the corruption trial of Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, former UKSB administrative manager David Tan Siong Sun, 47, testified that Dr Mahathir received funds amounting to RM2.6 million from the company.

Tan said the funds were for the use of the Bersatu which was given through Dr Mahathir's nephew, Tan Sri Rahmat Abu Bakar.

The prosecution witness also said the code name “Kedahan” was used for Rahmat in UKSB's ledger.
