Lotus’s gives back through its “Kelantan Dekat Di Hati” programme
The islands involved were Sri Tanjong Island, Beluru Island and Tokang Island.
Lotus’s, through its statement said they collaborated with Lifebuoy Malaysia, Malaysia Red Cresent and Kelantan Health Department.
About 50 volunteers participated in the health awareness programme.
Lotus’s Kota Bharu Store General Manager, Koh Siuew Luan said, the island residents were educated on how to be a good consumer, how to eat healthy and were also given hygiene tutorials, in addition to health screenings.
“The residents are a very close-knit community and this was one of the reasons Lotus’s chose the islands to organise the programme.
“They live rather far from the main island and hardly travel to town to get necessities,” she told the media.
Siuew Luan hopes that the programme could help ease the island residents’ financial stress through its wellness packs and groceries worth RM100.
A recipient, Zamri Jusoh, 33, said Lotus’s effort provides an opportunity for the residents to gather in a public programme.
He also expressed his gratitude when his son, Iman Fayadh received donations too.
The two year-old and a half is under doctor’s observation as he is hyperactive and has the ability to injure himself.
Through the same programme, Lotus’s also donated a special needs stroller to a seven-year-old girl, Nurul Aisyah Mohd Noor, who suffers from cerebral palsy.
