Land sale: Various punishments under law, but no enforcement - Dr M
SHAH ALAM - Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said there are many punishments under the law against individuals or leaders in the selling and purchasing of land in the country.
The Pejuang chairman said however, the problem was that there was no enforcement and execution of the law regarding the matter.
"They make mistakes, and no one tells them off. So they continue to do things that are against the law.
"We found that in Malaysia there are many laws, but they are not implemented and enforced," he said on Friday.
He said this during Sinar Harian’s “Di Sebalik Isu Bersama FY” programme hosted by Finaz Yunus entitled “Mengapa Melayu Jual Tanah” on Friday night.
Explaining further, the Langkawi MP said if the leadership in the country was bad, they would not be interested in doing what was right.
"They themselves are involved in wrongdoings and do not want to lose the support towards them.
"So, when they do something wrong, they hope no one will take action. Even as an officer, if he sees a leader doing something wrong and no action is taken, then he will do the same thing," he said.
