Thunderstorms expected across several states in Peninsula and Sarawak
SHAH ALAM - Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a bad weather alert today as thunderstorms, heavy rains and strong winds are expected to hit several states till 6pm today.
In a statement, MetMalaysia stated that thunderstorms, heavy rains and strong winds were expected in Kedah (Langkawi), Perak (Kerian, Larut, Matang Dan Selama, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang dan Muallim), Pahang (Tanah Tinggi Cameron).
Apart from that, Selangor (Hulu Selangor, Klang, Gombak, Petaling, Hulu Langat dan Sepang), Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Negeri Sembilan (Seremban dan Port Dickson), Johor (Batu Pahat, Pontian, Kulai dan Johor Bahru) and Sarawak: Limbang would also be affected.
The short-term thunderstorm warning was issued at 4pm today with the signs of a thunderstorm with rain intensity exceeding 20 mm/hour that was close or expected to occur for more than an hour.
