KUALA LUMPUR: A new perspective on the education system needs to be introduced and implemented in Malaysia to achieve a better nation and unity.
UCSI University’s School of Architecture and Built Environment Professor Dr Mohd Tajuddin Mohd Rasdi said the education should provide proper narratives, perspectives and attitudes concerning, history, politics and events that enable to create strong bond between different races, faiths and religions of human kinds.
“The education system in Malaysia is a success academically, however, the elements that require us to respect religions and races had declined.
“Therefore, in order to revolutionise our education system, there’s no need to wait for the government to change when the academicians themselves can change by the way they teach,” he said, during an interview with Sinar Daily today.
Dr Tajuddin released his book entitled ‘Issues and Ideas in Education for the New Malaysia’ at UCSI University, today.
He said if the society did not practice the open attitude in the emerging nation, they would not be revolving and the book he released today was more to encourage the people to be more open-minded.
Apart from that, the primary purpose of the book launch was to forge a bond in the neighbourhood between nations and societies and also to create a spiritual existence of peace with all things.
“We must be humbled that we know very little about everything and must seek to learn about many disciplines like arts, heritage, history, cultures, and beliefs of others instead of imprisoning ourselves in one field.
“Moreover, we must educate our children to appreciate and honour differences of ideas, of understanding, of the way of life because God has made differences in living things and nature to cause the necessary reactions to build, destroy and rebuild,” he adds.
Dr Tajuddin further said, he wrote the book with the intention to spread awareness not only to the academicians but as well as the society.
“I’m willing to pitch in my ideas if the government wants to hear more about it,” he added.
