Kota belud MP ejected for 2 days after uproar at Dewan Rakyat over Sulu heirs
KUALA LUMPUR - Kota Belud member of parliament (Warisan) Isnaraissah Munirah Majilis has been ejected from the Dewan Rakyat and suspended for two days after asking for a standing order on the Sulu arbitration issue.
Amidst her being accompanied by the Dewan Rakyat officers, she continued to stand her ground and demanding for the rights to debate on the matter while Energy and Natural Resources Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan.
Takiyuddin, during speech suddenly said "Shut up this is my floor", while Sepanggar MP (Warisan) Datuk Mohd Azis Jamman was heard shouting: "Don't want to talk about Sabah, but Sabah's resources you want".
Other Pakatan Harapan MPs started surrounding to support Isnaraissah, as she continued asking the speaker for point of order.
"Give me a date to debate, give me a date," she said.
Isnaraissah was told to appeal this request later by deputy speaker Datuk Mohd Rashid Hasnon, who had ejected her.
The debacle first started when Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Azhar Azizan Harun was chairing the Dewan.
Bukit Gelugor MP Ramkarpal Singh questioned if Azhar was refusing to let the Dewan debate on the matter as it involved the latter's brother, Attorney-General Tan Sri Idrus Harun, who was criticised for the late response in regards to a stay order on the controversial US$14.92bil (about RM63bil) award to the self-proclaimed heirs of the Sulu Sultanate by a Paris Arbitration Court.
"Is there any conflict of interest because the AG is your brother?
"We need answers for this. This is what needs to be heard now," he said.
Meanwhile, Sungai Buloh MP Sivarasa Rasiah said this was not a "Sabah only" issue as argued by some but a Malaysia issue as any outcomes would affect all Malaysian assets overseas.
He added that the matter was not sub judice as the proceedings were happening in Spain and not here.
Azhar stated that the issue of two Petronas subsidiaries in Azerbaijan had already been explained by the Minister's Department (Economy) Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed last week in the Dewan.
On the sub judice, he said there were ongoing proceedings involving the matter abroad thus could not be disucssed yet.
Azhar also denied any conflict of interest elements in the matter, stating that he does not talk to his brother about work.
Earlier, Isnaraissah had questioned why her motion to debate on the matter was rejected three times and if the Dewan Rakyat did not care about the matter since it only concerned the state of Sabah.
Isnaraissah had wanted Putrajaya to explain why it only got the stay of execution on the Final Award worth US$14.92bil granted to the so-called heirs of the Sulu Sultanate on July 12, since the award was granted on March 3.
