JOHOR BAHRU - A woman who was believed to have killed her husband at their home on Friday has been remanded for seven days.

The remand order against the 36-year old suspect effective today was issued by senior assistant registrar Melody Woon Sze Mun at the magistrate’s court, here.

Earlier, the suspect who wore a T-shirt and orange trousers arrived at the court’s vicinity at about 8.45am escorted by police personnel.

On Friday, a man was found dead in a flat unit at Flat Nipah, Taman Daya at about 7.50am.

It was believed that the victim had died after being beaten by his wife.

The victim was found lying face-down on the floor and suffered injuries to his head.

Johor Bahru Selatan district police chief Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat in a statement on Friday said the victim’s wife was detained at the place of the incident and was found to be under the influence of drugs.

The woman who was self-employed was tested positive for methamphetamin and amphetamine and has two previous criminal records on a drug-related offence and causing hurt.

He said the case was being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code which carries the death penalty, if convicted.

The suspect was also being investigated under Section 15 (1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
