Two Singaporeans arrested over road rage in Tuas

ISKANDAR PUTERI - Police arrested two Singaporean suspects on Thursday night believed to be involved in the mischief case that happened near to the Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) Complex on July 9.

Iskandar Puteri District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Rahmat Ariffin said the suspects, 18-year-old woman and a 46-year-old man was held at the Sultan Abu Bakar Complex Customs Inspection Post at the entrance to Malaysia from Singapore.

“The suspects were arrested at 9.15pm on the same day of the incident and were remanded for a day.

“Both suspects were believed to be unsatisfied due to their vehicle being stopped and scratched during the incident.

“Police thank all parties involved in the arrest of the suspects,” he said in a statement today.

On July 12, police identified both suspects involved in the mischief case which took place near the CIQ complex at Sultan Abu Bakar complex here on July 9.

Rahmat through a statement on Sunday said the act of mischief happened as the victims’ vehicle allegedly scratched the suspects’ vehicle.

The victims were in a Toyota Alphard multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), believed to had switched lanes and scratched the Kia vehicle driven by one of the suspect.

“The suspects stopped their vehicle before both the man and woman stepped out.

“The male suspect had shouted profanities and showed obscene gestures towards the victim.

“Meanwhile the woman had taken action to remove the victim’s license plate and threw it towards the windshield of the victim’s car,” he said.

The 2.06-minute video went viral on social media regarding the incident.

The woman stood in front of the Alphard vehicle and prevented it from moving on the Second Link Bridge.
