Traffic easing at LPT, slow-moving traffic near Klang Valley as city folk return
SHAH ALAM - Heavy traffic that was previously reported is finally slowing down and smooth on both route at Lebuhraya Pantai Timur (LPT) E8 until 11.05 pm.
As reported by LPT through its Twitter account, the traffic latest was reported heavy at 11.04 pm, stretching until 12.9 kilometres around Bentong toll plaza until KM49.1 (Bentong-Bukit Tinggi).
It was due to vehicles en route to Kuala Lumpur as the people are coming back to the city after celebrating Aidiladha at their hometowns.
However, LPT also has reported an accident at KM28.2 Gombak to Kuantan which developed 900 metre heavy traffic until KM27.3, at 6.58 pm.
The heavy traffic caused by the accident was finally resolved at 7.25 pm and traffic eventually returned to normal.
Meanwhile in Kuala Lumpur, BERNAMA reported traffic heading towards the Klang Valley is reported to be slow-moving from the north, south, as well as east coast of the country as of 10.30 pm tonight, as city dwellers return from their hometowns after the Aidiladha celebrations.
According to the Malaysian Highway Authority's (LLM) Twitter page, there is a 14.9-km crawl on the Karak Highway heading towards the Bentong Toll Plaza.
"There was an accident at KM360.89 (northbound) from Bukit Besi to Dungun at 8.01 pm on the East Coast Expressway (LPT) Two, and the right lane had been temporarily closed," said LLM.
On the North-South Expressway, traffic is reported to be slow heading south from the Alor Setar (S) exit towards Gurun due to a stalled trailer at KM78.8 causing the left lane to be blocked.
"Traffic is also slow from north to south, namely from Gopeng to Tapah; Ladang Bikam to Sungkai; Slim River to Behrang; and Bukit Beruntung to Rawang," it said.
Meanwhile, LLM informed that traffic from the south to north was also slow from Tangkak to Jasin; Ayer Keroh Overhead Bridge Restaurant to Pedas/Linggi to the Port Dickson junction.
Plus Malaysia Berhad (Plus) previously said that 1.9 million vehicles were expected to be on the highway during the festive holidays from Thursday (Jul 7) to tomorrow (Jul 12).
The operator of the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Expressway (KLK) and the LPT One, Anih Berhad, meanwhile, said it expected more than two million vehicles to use the highway from July 10-11.
