Karangkraf revives Aidiladha tradition with qurban
Raja Nur Faznie AidaSHAH ALAM – After two years of hiatus due to the pandemic, Karangkraf Group resumed its qurban (sacrifical worship of livestock) tradition last Sunday.
Its chairman Datuk Dr Hussamuddin Yaacub said the event was a company tradition that was held almost every year.
He said such event could not just strengthen their relationship, but also give a chance for the staffs who did not experience qurban in their hometown.
“Alhamdulillah, after two years of halting qurban ceremony, today (Sunday) we are back to revive our tradition.
“Indeed, this is Karangkraf’s tradition every year. We will organise sunnah prayer, a feast, followed by qurban during Aidiladha,” he told Sinar Harian after qurban ended at Karangkraf gathering area on Sunday.
He further explained that the company had previously allocated around five to 25 cows for the sacrificial worship, but this year only two cows were slaughtered as many staff returned to their hometown.
“If previously we sacrificed 25 cows, we cooked five of them and distributed the meat from the 20 cows. However, since most of the staff went back to celebrate Aidiladha with their family, we only distributed the meat this year.
“I have calculated only 150 staff who managed to attend qurban this year, which includes their families,” he said.
Furthermore, Karangkraf Group’s vice chairman Datuk Muhammad Nasir Hamzah also shared the same view that this programme could improve the relationship between families and colleagues.
“When we observe in Karangkraf, we definitely are the pioneer in these activities. Hence, my wish is that all Malaysian will be back to our roots.
“We should go back to live in the community, families filled with ukhuwah and silaturrahim.
“If we unite, our country will definitely be a great and peaceful nation,” he said.
Meanwhile, Karangkraf’s Special Duty Task Manager Hashim Anang expressed his gratitude to the company’s management for continuing the qurban tradition.
He said it had been 10 years since the tradition started before Covid-19 pandemic hits the country.
“Before this, we organised this event on second or third Aidiladha when there are many staff working on that day. However, as many of them were went back to their hometown.
“Nevertheless, thank you very much to Karangkraf’s management for keeping up with this tradition.
“We also have Fire and Rescue Department that assist 10 of his men here. Some of them also came with their family. We are very delighted,” he added.
