Missing boy with disability in Tawau found safe
TAWAU – A seven-year old boy with disability who was reported missing was found safe in Kampung Jawa, Lanut, here on Sunday.
Muhammad Fakhri Zhafrah Afandi Muhammad Maulidin was found in the woods located about 100 metres away from his house at about 7.16pm.
Tawau fire and rescue station chief Julius John Stephen Jr said the boy was found during a search and rescue (SAR) operation.
“The victim was reported missing at noon and was suspected to have drowned in the nearby river.
“The SAR operation was led by the villagers before the rescue team arrived and the victim was finally found not far from his house, during the operation,” he told Sinar Harian when contacted on Sunday.
He said the operation ended at 7.52pm.
Sinar Harian previously reported that a boy with disability was feared to have drowned after he went missing from his house.
