BEAUFORT - A three-year-old boy who went missing Saturday was found drowned in a creek in Kampung Kuridak Gerama, here, today.

Mohd Qyis Azhar Abdul Halim was found at 10.20am by the villagers floating about 500 meters from his house.

Beaufort Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) chief Mohammad Hasbullah Nenggok said they received a call on the child's disappearance at 5.45pm on Saturday.

He said a total of five members rushed to the scene which is located 24 kilometers from BBP Beaufort station.

"According to the victim's mother, during the incident, the family was busy preparing for a feast and the victim was found missing. The front door of the house was open," he said when contacted by Sinar Harian.

A search and rescue (SAR) operation was immediately carried out at nearby river and an oil palm plantation area but the operation was postponed after several hours. It was continued the next day where the body was found in a creek floating," he added.

Qyis Azhar added the victim was confirmed dead by the police and was taken to Beaufort Hospital for further examination.

"The operation ended at 11.40am," he said.

Meanwhile, in a separate case, Mohammad Hasbullah said the SAR team detected another child reported missing in Kampung Batu 66, here and the search operation is still being carried out.
