SHAH ALAM – Malaysian Armed Forces were deployed to Baling, Kedah immediately this morning to build a Bailey Bridge to replace the current bridge which was damaged in the flood.

Senior Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein said the bridge would be built between Kampung Iboi and Kampung Masjid Iboi which collapsed when floods hit the villages last Monday.

“Yesterday, I was contacted by the Rural Development minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid who requested the armies to rebuild the Bailey Bridge.

“They already went to the location this morning to check out the location so that the construction of the bridge can be done as soon as possible,” he said in his Facebook post.

The Baling floods had claimed three lives so far and destroyed at least seven houses in Kampung Iboi.
