Former MIC deputy president Subramaniam dies at 78

He died about 8pm today.
He was the longest-serving MIC deputy president from 1979 to 2006 and was engage in bitter feuds with party president Datuk Seri S Samy Vellu.
In the 2006 party elections, Datuk Seri G. Palanivel succeeded him as the deputy president of the MIC.
He served two terms as the MP for Damansara from 1974 to 1982 and four terms as the MP for Segamat, his final term beginning with the 1999 General Election.
He had served as deputy minister under former prime ministers Hussein Onn, Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.
