KUANTAN - A group of businessmen have set up a new political party known as Barisan Penyatuan Nasional (BPN) and is prepared to compete in all the 222 parliamentary seats nationwide in the 15th General Election (GE15).

BPN President Ibrahim Yahaya said they are now awaiting approval from the Registrar of Societies’ (RoS).

"The registration is at its final phase. We will start preparing for GE15 once the approval is given. We will be using our own funds," he said.

He said several political parties are keen to work along with them. "BPN is ready to cooperate with any political party in Malaysia," Ibrahim said during a press conference here, today.

Ibrahim said their focus was on strengthening the country's economy, curbing the cost of living, inflation and providing free housing for household income below RM1,500 and providing Haj and Umrah assistance along with medical assistance for the disabled.

"We want to protect the rakyat from the current political mess.
