Covid-19: Malaysia records 1,918 new cases, eight deaths

SHAH ALAM - Malaysia has recorded a total of 1,918 Covid-19 cases with two imported cases in the last 24 hours.

According to the Health Ministry's data through the CovidNow portal, the number of Covid-19 deaths recorded was eight cases bringing the total death toll to 35,784 since the pandemic began.

Currently, there are 29,382 active cases with 28,140 (95.9 per cent) undergoing home quarantine while 26 individuals were placed in the Covid-19 Quarantine and Treatment Centre (QTC).

A total of 1,172 patients are currently undergoing treatments in hospitals with 44 placed in intensive care units (ICU).

From the number, 24 patients needed respiratory support while 20 needed ventilators.

The country also recorded 2,321 recoveries yesterday making the total number of recovered cases to 4,510,643.
