Sabah Bersatu Information Chief Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan tells Datuk Seri Najib Razak that leaders out of Sabah should criticise the state's political parties.
KOTA KINABALU - Sabah Bersatu is not hiding behind Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) but working together with other coalition components to develop Sabah, said its Information Chief Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan.
This comes after former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak accused the party of riding on GRS to hide its dwindling support.
Khairul Firdaus said they were moving in tandem with GRS and other component partners to develop the Borneo state.
“Don't slander us (Bersatu) or accuse us of hiding behind GRS," he said in a statement.
Khairul Firdaus added leaders out of Sabah are unaware of the current political situation in the state and should not issue statements or insult the political parties in Sabah.
He further said GRS was the brainchild of Sabah Bersatu chief Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor and Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin. “We were formed because these two leaders are Sabah leaders who understand the political norms in Sabah and want the best for Sabah.
He said Sabah Bersatu is not on the brink of collapse. "We contested 19 state seats and won 11 seats, thankfully, and this is proof that we are accepted by the people of Sabah, even though we can be said to be new,” he added.
On July 1, Najib said while BN was gaining momentum in Sabah, Bersatu was using the GRS logo.
