SHAH ALAM - Kuantan MP Fuziah Salleh has voiced frustration over ‘stupid’ policies in which an elected representative needs special permission from the education director-general to visit schools in her constituency.

She said some political figures from a particular party are allowed to walk in and out of a particular school while she is denied to do the same.

“Can you imagine a member of parliament who wants to visit a school in her constituency has to get special permission from the director-general while a youth chief from a particular party can walk in and out freely in that particular school,” she told Sinar Daily during an interview.

During the Barisan Nasional era, the opposition was not allowed to enter government-run schools which was eventually overturned during Pakatan Harapan (PH) administration.

“I am so sad that we have regressed in recent years because prior to this when PH was in the government, we made it very clear that all elected representatives have their rights.

However, she said it is time to change such a mindset by changing the government in the 15th general election.

On June 21, Fuziah said she had received a letter from the Pahang Education Department stating that she needs the education director-general's permission to visit schools in Kuantan.

She took to Instagram to express her frustration over the matter in which she posted a photo of the notice with a caption saying that she was excited to visit the school until she received the notice.
