UnipSAS students instilled with religious education, produce highly skilled graduates
KUANTAN - Sultan Ahmad Shah Pahang Islamic University (UnipSAS) students are instilled with religious values, with many of its students end up joining reality television shows such as ‘Daie’ and ‘Pencetus Ummah’.
Its vice-chancellor Assoc Prof Datuk Dr Mohd Zawavi Zainal Abidin said among the strengths that they have as a higher education institution was that the students were competent, in line with the university’s vision to produce individuals with high leadership skills.
“Our strength for over 25 years is that our students are very skilled and our vision is that we want to produce individuals with leadership skills, not just excel in their studies but are also able to establish a better community in the country.
“We are trying to maintain the tagline ’Menjana Kecemerlangan Akademik dan Sahsiah’ (generate academic and personal excellence), (in which) we do not want our students to just be good in their academics but also their character,” he told Sinar Daily.
When asked about their initiative to ensure the students would not be involved in immoral acts after becoming a ‘Daie” or ‘Pencetus Ummah’, he said that UnipSAS had a long history of establishing a programme dubbed ‘Haraqah and Usrah’ for them to be aware with the current issues.
“The students will be seated in a group with the lecturer to discuss current issues and we will instil knowledge on Islamic matters as well the etiquette that they need to follow,” he said.
He said this required support from every party to ensure the programme's objective could be achieved.
