UnipSAS to collaborate with Rasuah Busters to become institution that fights for ESG
KUANTAN - Regent of Pahang Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah Al-Sultan Abdullah wants Universiti Islam Pahang Sultan Ahmad Shah (UnipSAS) to become an institution that fights for the Environmental, Social, and Governance( ESG), says its vice-chancellor Associate Prof Datuk Dr Mohd Zawavi Zainal Abidin.
"Regent of Pahang has asked us more than once to make sure that UnipSAS is able to become an institution that fights for the ESG," he told reporters, today.
He said it would be a good initiative to collaborate with the Rasuah Busters team to fulfill the Regent of Pahang's decree.
Zawavi also said UnipSAS was ready to be a Rasuah Busters’ centre to eradicate corrupt practices in the higher education institutions (IPTs) in the state.
“We are very committed to combat the crime,” he said.
He also said UnipSAS has agreed to conduct a dialogue session between its students and the students from other higher education institutes in the state that will be organised by the Student Representative Council (MPP).
“As agreed, we will be having the dialogue session with the students with the cooperation of Rasuah Busters as our synergy partner as one of our initial steps,” he added.
He said this during a courtesy visit by Rasuah Buster during the group’s visit in Kuantan for its nationwide tour. Rasuah Busters was led by Sinar untuk Malaysia Foundation chief executive officer Nurhayati Nordin.
In the same development, UnipSAS senior lecturer Wan Emril Nizam Wan Embong said he was involved in a non-government organisation (NGO) called 'Yayasan Anti Rasuah Malaysia' which is a foundation linked to an anti-corruption movement to eradicate corrupt practices in the country.
"In reality, it is hard to make Pahang as a state that has zero corruption, but we would like to at least, reduce the number of such practices among the community.
"As an NGO, we would like to resolve the issue with the right enforcement together with the help of other committees as well," he told Sinar Daily.
Wan Emril was appointed as the new Pahang Rasuah Busters deputy chief on Sunday (June 26).
