Umno President Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said former Election Commission (SPR) chairman had also called for democracy to be reinstated and to make way for an elected government.

SHAH ALAM - The push to dissolve Parliament for the 15th General Elections (GE15) is not only from Umno members, Umno President Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said.

He said former Electoral Reform Committee (ERC) chairman Tan Sri Abdul Rashid Abdul Rahman had also done the same.

The Bagan Datuk MP said Rashid, the former Election Commission (SPR) chairman had also called for democracy to be reinstated and to make way for an elected government.

"The government is not stable because of multiple characters and parties, this is not good for the country.

"Rashid said the economy is worsening and investors are pulling out," he said in the Facebook post on Tuesday.

On Monday, Rashid stated in an interview that GE15 must be had immediately to replace the government that doesn't have mandate to rule.

He said the elections should have been had a long time ago as the government under Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob was formed through political 'antics'.

Zahid added Tan Sri Rashid, the former Bersatu vice- president who is still a member of Bersatu is "being truthful and his stance is based of 30 years of experience in SPR."
