Programmes like Relatable's Young and Divorced gives a hope to victims, says Warnabilla
KUALA LUMPUR - Talking out loud and spreading awareness for abuse victims and divorcees could help many women out there, says make-up artist Nabilla Nordin.
Nabilla, more popularly known as Warnabilla said programmes like Relatable 'Young and Divorced' helps many women out there to overcome their fears and gives a hope in the future despite all the sufferings.
"In the future, I can see a lot of women having their agencies (such as organisations and businesses) and choosing to have a life that is better for them, instead of just accepting and make due with whatever there is in their situation.
"I see now that women are more ready and brave to make the decision to leave, as I am, who is also young and divorced," she told Sinar Daily during the live-event at Dome Cafe, Bangsar Shopping Centre here on Tuesday.
Warnabilla hopes that the divorce process or being a divorcee will not be seen as a curse in the future, rooting for the notion of "it's okay not to be okay".
"Just because you are divorced does not mean that your world has been turned upside down or it is the end for you.
"A lot of possibilities are out there and it is actually a starting point for a new life.
"This sort of action will be a feasible move to increase awareness for abuse victims," she said.
Warnabilla also said efforts like this by Sinar Daily will create a platform where people could reach out for help.
"Such event will help more women or abuse victims to come out and feel more supported in doing so.
"This is so they are not left out or feel alone anymore," she added.
On Dec 28 last year, Warnabilla took to Twitter stating that she had marked the end of her “edah” (waiting period by a woman after divorce or husband’s death in which she cannot remarry).
“Exactly a year ago, I was in the worst state of being, and things just kept going downhill. So much has happened in the span of 1 year, and I am so happy I got out of it by my own effort and sheer will.
“So proud of myself,” she tweeted.
Warnabilla said she was incredibly grateful for the life that she has built so far and promised herself that she would be the husband she never had, and included a picture of her cat in the post.
In the Twitter thread, she added that she had learnt so much from her marriage and that they had ended on good terms.
She also said her relationship with her in laws remained the same and expressed how she loved them so much and would continue staying in touch, describing it as “rezeki itself” (a blessing).
She even included photos of her and her ex-husband “Fareez” on the day of the divorce.
Although the pictures looked fun and happy, she admitted that she “broke down like crazy” when she got home.
“Make no mistakes, it was a sad day. And. I broke down like crazy when I got home. But I loved that we still had that memory of silliness even in the last stretch. It was a good, wild ride,” she said in a posting.
