KUALA LUMPUR - A woman cheats death when the car she was driving crashed at Sultan Abdul Halim expressway, here, today.

Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department’s operation centre in a statement said the Perodua Myvi car crashed near the Duta Tunnel heading towards the city centre and caught fire around 9am.

"Kuala Lumpur PGO received the emergency call through the MERS999 system at 9.22am and 11 team members of the Emergency Medical and Rescue Service (EMRS) were dispatched to the location.

"The firemen arrived at the scene and saw the car which was on fire at the road shoulder," it said in a statement on Wednesday.

The victim, a 52-year-old woman successfully got out of the vehicle without any injuries before calling emergency services.

"The fire was successfully extinguished in seven minutes.

“The fire destroyed roughly 90 per cent of the car.

"The driver informed that her car had lost control and crashed causing the fire," the statement read.
